Wilsonart Acquiring Technistone
AUSTIN, Texas – Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces will acquire Technistone a.s., a Czechia-based manufacturer of quartz stone with 25 years in the business.
The transaction, announced today, is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close this September. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.
“As the demand for quartz increases in both the commercial and residential markets, the addition of Technistone allows us to better provide our customers high-quality quartz products, combined with the service they have come to expect from Wilsonart,” says Andrew Korzen, Wilsonart’s VP, Product Management, Engineered Solid Surfaces.
Located just outside of Prague in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, Technistone exports quartz slabs to more than 75 countries worldwide on five continents. The company, founded in 1991, began manufacturing the Bohemiastone product a year later using technology from Breton S.p.a. In 1997, Bohemiastone shifted to the Technistone® brand; in 2005, it added a production line.
Last year, Technistone completed significant state-of-the-art investments to upgrade its existing Bretonstone® production lines to increase capacity and improve design capabilities and quality. Technistone is also an active member of A.St.A World-Wide (World Association of Technical Stone Manufacturers), helping to set standards for product safety and technical stone production.
“Our company has a terrific reputation for taking care of our customers with high-quality products and on-time shipments,” says Radek Průša, Technistone CEO and board chairman. “Now as a part of the Wilsonart organization, we have even stronger support of our brand. With our increased production capacity, our customers can expect even more as we join the Wilsonart family.”
“This acquisition represents a significant commitment to our Wilsonart® Quartz program and supports our mission to create surfaces our customers love, with service they can count on,” Korzen added. “We welcome Technistone to the Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces portfolio of brands and products and look forward to collectively serving our customers with a world-class quartz program.”
Wilsonart began offering its Wilsonart Quartz line of products in 2015. A Wilsonart spokesperson said that the company will continue to partner with current manufacturers of its branded quartz line.
Wilsonart manufactures and distributes high-pressure laminate, quartz surfaces, solid surface, coordinated tfl/edgebanding and other engineered-surface options under the Wilsonart®, Resopal®, Polyrey®, Arborite®, Laminart®, Bushboard™, Shore™, Mermaid™, Ralph Wilson®, KML®, and Durcon® brands.
