US Marble Now Part of Clio Holdings

BIRMINGHAM, Mich.Clio Holdings LLC made another move in the dimensional-stone industry today by acquiring US Marble Inc.

250 usclioThe deal with the Remus, Mich., fabricator/dealer marks the fifth acquisition in less than a year for Birmingham-based Clio.

US Marble, with facilities in Remus and Johnson City, Tenn., supplies residential surfaces nationwide through a dealer network. Founded in 1967 by John and Sharon Bishop, US Marble now includes 200 employees supplying stone, quartz-surface and solid-surface countertops, vanity tops and other custom products throughout the entire United States.

“US Marble’s nationwide distribution model and custom capabilities are one of a kind in the countertop industry,” said Bryan Tolles, Clio founder and partner at the Birmingham investment firm of Oakland Standard Co. LLC. “John and Sharon Bishop bring a wealth of industry knowledge and we’re pleased to have them continue with the company as partners of Clio.”

Oakland Standard, with support from investment firms O2 Investment Partners and Tecum Capital Partners, created Clio last June to partner leading countertop suppliers and fabricators together and provide the capital and operational expertise in a highly fragmented industry. 

Since then, Clio’s acquisitions include Top Master Inc. in Kansas City, Kan.; Solid Surfaces Inc. in Rochester, N.Y.; Granite Source Inc. in Chantilly, Va.; and Princess Marble in Burnsville, Minn. Clio now generates more than $100 million in annual revenue at 13 locations with more than 750 employees.

Clio serves a full spectrum within the countertop industry, from new homebuilders and commercial contractors to kitchen/bath dealers and home improvement centers. Clio is actively seeking new opportunities in major metro areas across the United States.
