Tile Industry in Joint Fundraiser for Ukrainian Children
ANDERSON, S.C. – An tile-industry-wide effort to help children in war-torn Ukraine will seek to raise $250,000 during the run of Coverings 2022 next week.
“TILE$4UkrainianChildren” is a joint humanitarian endeavor by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA), the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA) and the Tile Contractors Association of America (TCAA) to support Save the Children’s work in Ukraine and the region.
All three associations have contributed $10,000 each with further support also coming in from their members. The goal is to raise $250,000 in donations and pledges before the end of Coverings on April 8.
“Everyone has seen in the news the horrors of this war in Europe,” said Eric Astrachan, TCNA executive director. “The U.N. is reporting that over 50% of the children in Ukraine have now been displaced, leaving them at serious risk of illness, hunger, and abuse. This fundraiser allows us to immediately put into action tile industry humanitarian support for Ukrainian children.”
“I would like to send all our thankfulness for what you’re doing for us,” said Lishchynskyi Ioan of the Ukrainian Association of Ceramics. “Project “TILE$” sounds really good and we know Save The Children is a big organization with a clear structure of methods to provide target support for Ukrainian children.”
Through Save the Children’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund:
• $50 can provide 10 warm, cozy blankets to children affected by conflict.
• $100 helps supply a month’s worth of nutritious food to a family in crisis.
• $175 can provide five families with emergency shelter materials.
London-based Save the Children is a global humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1919; it’s been on the ground in Ukraine since the start of this escalating crisis in 2014. The NGO is now scaling up their operations to support impacted children and families, distributing critical emergency supplies and establishing safe spaces for children where possible.
