The Stone Collection Adds Marble of the World
DENVER – The Stone Collection, a leading importer and distributor of natural-stone and other hard surfaces, made an East Coast move this month with the acquisition of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Marble of the World. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.
The expansion adds three Florida showrooms to its current lineup in Denver, Dallas, Fort Worth, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. Besides the main 65,000 ft² warehouse/showroom in Fort Lauderdale, the acquisition also includes a 40,000 ft² facility in Miami and a 26,000 ft² operation in Palm City.
The South Florida Business Journal also noted that Marble of the World had 37 employees.
Founded in 1985 by Charles Urso, Marble of the World is a leading natural stone distributor in Florida. Its showrooms feature state-of-the-art facilities and an impressive inventory of quality natural stone slab, tiles, and accessory items.
Marble of the World will continue to operate under the Marble of the World brand.
The expansion reflects over a decade of success and growth for The Stone Collection, which has quickly grown to include nine locations in five states.
“We search the world over to bring our clients the most beautiful selection of natural stone products. We are committed to providing excellence in service and a truly unique buying experience,” said Mike Hitchcock, managing director for The Stone Collection. “With this acquisition, The Stone Collection continues to set a higher standard in purchasing stone and tile.”
Hitchcock and fellow founding partner Alan Odom opened The Stone Collection in Denver in 2007 by founding partners Mike Hitchcock and Alan Odom. It became a subsidiary of The Adam Corporation/Group of College Station, Texas, in 2014.
The Stone Collection offers granite, marble, quartzite, semi-precious, travertine, engineered quartz, sandstone, slate, soapstone, limestone, recycled glass and tile, including premium brands such as Caesarstone, Neolith, Vetrazzo, Geoluxe, Diresco, and Vetrite by Sicis.
