Backfill: The historic what’s-left sector of the stone trade is anything but remnant work, with a strong recovery in 2012 and an even stronger one this year. Brazil recovers from an early-year middling performance to take more than a third of the market in value and tonnage.

Backfill: While this sector is basically supplied by two countries – China and second-place India ($1.4 million, down 11.5% from July 2012) – some of the lesser exporters offer strong support this July, including Brazil ($720,061, +37.2%), the United Kingdom ($158,419, +142.3%) and Spain ($128,462, +201.5%).
