Backfill: The catch-all category for U.S. stone imports continues a steady improvement in values and volume, with Brazil and India trading top spots in a monthly battle. Brazil’s 6,509 metric tons (+66.9%) in January easily offsets China’s 47.7% drop to 3,340 metric tons. (Conversely, China’s valuation of those imports goes up 17.3% from January 2012 totals to $2.5 million.)
