IRVING, Texas – More than 80 exhibitors at this year’s SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas offered more than a little something after the event with the donation of products for reuse and repurposing.

The materials went to River Valley Community Outreach Center in Gridley, Calif.; Central West Virginia Outreach Center in Gassaway, W.V.; and Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity in Las Vegas. All the products will help serve multiple families and community-improvement efforts presently underway.

“We were blown away by the exhibitors’ generosity,” said Herb Miller, executive director of Mountain Re-Source Center. “We are thrilled that these beautiful floors will benefit our partners in Nevada, West Virginia, and California. Thank you to Hanley Wood, Freeman, and United Services for their amazing partnership – we couldn’t have done it without them!”

Companies of all sizes actively participate, with some of the major donations coming from:

  • Beaulieu (9,000 ft² of carpet and padding)
  • Mannington Mills (9,000 ft² of flooring)
  • Home Legend (5,400 ft² of flooring)
  • Nature Flooring (3,500 ft² of flooring)
  • U.S. Floors (2,500 ft² of flooring)
  • Max Windsor (2,500 ft² of flooring)
  • IVC US, Inc. (2,500 ft² of flooring)
  • Johnson Hardwood (2,250 ft² of flooring)

“We are very proud of this great accomplishment that we have achieved with the help of many partners,” said Dana Teague, Group Director, SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas. “The social responsibility that many of our exhibiting companies are displaying will go on to make an impact in so many lives, as well as bring light to the many ways recycling efforts such as ours can be implemented in business models year-round.”

Additionally, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center was successful in recycling a large amount of the remaining materials left in both the Bayside and Shorelines exhibit halls (including residual cardboard, aluminum, paper, plastics, pallets and other resources.)

SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2014, from Hanley Wood Exhibitions, will be next Jan. 27-30 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
