Premier Granite & Stone Now Employee-owned
GRANDVILLE, Mich. – Premier Granite & Stone got new owners in late summer – 120 of them, in fact.
As of Aug. 30, the fabrication company transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), said Matt VanTil, Premier president.
“This is a monumental step in our continued dedication to excellence, unparalleled service, and unmatched quality,” he said in announcing the new ownership.
VanTil and business partner, Dave Bleyenberg founded the company in 2008 with two employees – themselves – and grew the business to service all of Michigan and northern Indiana from facilities in Grandville and Michawaka, Ind. Making their 120 employees co-owners came after evaluating succession strategies.
“Our mission is to consistently deliver top-quality products with the highest efficiency, all while providing an exceptional experience for our valued customers,” VanTil said. “Employee ownership safeguards this mission, rewarding the very people who helped us build this successful business.”
Matt VanTil will remain as company president, with the rest of the management team staying in their current roles.
“PGS would not be what it is today without our entire team,” VanTil added. “Our success has come because many people have been committed to our vision and values.
“We began with two owners cutting and polishing sinks by hand, but today we are 120 strong, striving for the same exceptional customer service.”
