Potchatek joins New Ravenna as COO

EXMORE, Va. — New Ravenna Mosaics hires Alex Potchatek as its Chief of Operations (COO) for the made-to-order stone and glass mosaics company.

Reporting to Sara Baldwin, company founder/CEO, Potchatek – who brings more than 25 years of design and management experience – will be responsible for all factory/studio operations.

“Alex has run plants all over the world, mostly in the aero-space industry — each of these factories manufactures custom cast-metal parts.” Baldwin says. “He will apply the engineering and operational knowledge he has accumulated to New Ravenna’s equally complex processes, procedures and culture.

“Ultimately, our goal is to optimize our customer’s experience in order to stay top-of-mind whenever they need luxury surfaces.”  

Potchatek began his career as an engineer working for Allegheny Technologies designing and manufacturing aerospace products. After a series of promotions, he was recruited by Precision Castparts Corp., where he gain experience in lean manufacturing and general management.

After earning an MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, he was recruited to Alcoa as general manager of their large aerospace production facility in Virginia. After achieving record profits, he was recruited by a firm in Dallas to lead their oil and gas manufacturing operations.
