Polycor Acquires Ebel Quarries
QUEBEC CITY – Polycor Inc. acquired Ebel Quarries, a Canadian limestone producer in a deal closed on Feb. 1. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
In a public statement, Polycor said that adding the Wiarton, Ont, quarrier and fabricator will expand its presence in that Canadian province and help meet the increasing demand for natural stone by adding a new subsidiary to its extraction and finishing network.
“By acquiring Ebel Quarries, a family-owned company that has been quarrying and marketing high-quality limestone since 1950, we found the ideal partner to support the offer on the Canadian and international market,” said Patric Perus, Polycor CEO. “This addition to Polycor contributes to our rapid expansion in North America while benefitting from the invaluable expertise and strong reputation enjoyed by this Ontario-based flagship and its employees.
“We are confident that together we will continue to strengthen our position as the world leader in the natural stone industry,” Perus added. “This transaction also enhances our residential and commercial product portfolio, particularly in the hardscapes and masonry market segment.”
“We are delighted to be part of the great Polycor family,” said former co-president Ron Campbell on behalf of the Ebel and Campbell families. “Ebel Quarries and Polycor share a common vision of a greener, sustainable industry and family-spirit values. I am confident in the bright future of the Wiarton site to continue to shine in the local community.”
With this transaction, the Polycor Group expands its environmentally friendly product offering in order to meet increasing demand and to provide their customers with a sustainable alternative that replaces concrete as the sole building material option. In 2020, Polycor committed itself to become carbon-neutral by the end of 2025, an ambitious goal that exceeds the recommendations of the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan and which is ahead of the United Nations’ 2050 net-zero-emissions target.
“The addition of Ebel Quarries to Polycor also honors our mutual ambition to optimize production and efficiency by benefiting from the immense collective expertise of exceptional employees, to whom Polycor is committed to offering the best possible employment conditions and career advancement opportunities,” Perus added.
