Penn SFA Workshop Set for August
BUTLER, Pa. – While plans continue for the big Mega-Workshop this fall from the Stone Fabricators Alliance (SFA), don’t forget about the member workshop slated for here next month.
The last of the stone-shop-site workshops will be held Aug. 15-18 at Custom Marble & Granite in Butler, with a special focus on safety inspections as well as the standard SFA shop demos and discussions. And, also as usual with the SFA, it’s free.
The highlight, on Aug. 15, is an afternoon walk-through inspection of the shop with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It’s an opportunity to see what’s involved in an OSHA inspection, ask questions anonymously, and learn about voluntary inspections.
The following days will be devoted to round-table discussions and hands-on demos, including presentations on wall cladding, sink building and other topics requested by attendees.
As with any SFA event, there’s also off-hours entertainment, including a trip to an Aug. 15 night baseball game at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park – Butler is 35 miles north of the Steel City – where the Pirates host the Los Angeles Dodgers. There’s also an evening of skeet shooting and a barbecue on Aug. 16, sponsored by Salem Tools.
Lodging is available at several area hotels, although blocks of rooms reserved for the SFA will be released on July 15. Hotel details are available here.
