NTCA Bestows Special Award, Scholarships
JACKSON, Miss. – The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) presented Jeremy Barker of Bathmatic Custom Tile and Shower in Gastonia, N.C., with a special honor for his volunteer work during Hurricane Helene.

The Special Recognition Award noted that Barker, in the aftermath of the southeastern U.S. storm last September, stepped up to lead relief efforts, using his own time, money and resources. His efforts continue to inspire others in the tile industry to join the cause.
“Jeremy’s commitment to helping his community during one of its darkest times is a true example of the spirit of NTCA,” said Bart Bettina, NTCA executive director, in presenting the award during Coverings 2025. “We are honored to recognize his heroic effort.”
NTCA also used the event to reveal this year’s recipients of $5,000 scholarships presented due to the generous support of Tom Ade, Dal-Tile Corp. and LATICRETE. The scholarships are designed to support the academic goals of students with strong ties to the tile industry.
This year’s recipients are:
- Nathan Blood, studying criminal justice at Roger Williams University;
- Andy Mourelatos, a student in the film and television program at the University of Arizona, and;
- Isaiah Riddle, studying theology and apologetics at Liberty University
Bettiga noted the NTCA is grateful to Ade and the sponsors for investing in the next generation.
