SCM Group Acquires Diversified Machine Systems
CALEDONIA, Mich. – SCM Group, a leading Italian multinational company in machinery and industrial equipment, finalized the acquisition on Nov. 28 of Diversified Machine Systems in Colorado Springs, Colo.
DMS is an important domestic player in the design, manufacture, distribution and service of innovative CNC machinery, particularly for many plastics and composite materials applications.
This acquisition will strengthen SCM Group’s global leadership in these sectors and other ones, and is complementary to a broad portfolio already established in many markets through its venerable CMS brand of customized CNC machines.
SCM is the parent company of Caledonia-based CMS North America (CMSNA).
“The addition of DMS to the CMS family of brands broadens our portfolio of capabilities and expands available technologies we can deploy within our core business of offering custom CNC machine solutions,” said Andrea Aureli, SCM Group CEO. “By adding DMS together with CMS and SCM Group capabilities, we can offer our customers a wider range of solutions with expanded features and greater opportunities for creating manufacturing efficiencies and higher return on investment.”
DMS Chief Financial Offier Tanya Williams will become CEO. Patrick Bollar, founder of DMS and a partner in the company, will continue in his strategic role as Chief Technology Officer, leading innovation and product development.
Matt Dietrich, CEO of CMSNA, will serve as DMS board chairman, managing director and president, and will direct and support Williams and Bollar to ensure proper alignment of strategy, capture important synergies, and preserve both companies’ technological and geographical strengths.
“As part of SCM Group, we are excited to now have wider access to global markets, very experienced and proven capital equipment manufacturing expertise, and resources of a leading worldwide manufacturer,” Bollar said.
DMS designs and manufactures 3- and 5-axis CNC routers and machining centers for a wide variety of manufacturing sectors, including aerospace, automotive, marine, recreational vehicles, 3D sculptures, concept models, pattern making, formed plastics and woodworking.
