New Thin-Veneer-Stone Course from MIA
CLEVELAND – Persuading clients to lighten up with stone became easier with a new course on thin veneer from the Marble Institute of America.
Natural Stone Thin Veneer: The Basics is a one-hour continuing-education-unit (CEU) course that provides a basic understanding of the material, including its history, production, best uses and common application techniques/opportunities. The course also explores the advantages of natural-stone thin veneer over anchored veneer and manufactured stone.
The course – the first of a two-part series on natural-stone thin veneer – was developed by a MIA subcomittee chaired by Scott Lardner of Rocky Mountain Stone and a MIA past president.
“It was a great collaborative effort with nine prominent companies involved,” Lardner noted. “This CEU is the sixth class introduced by the MIA to expand the educational opportunities available to the design community about natural stone.”
This course is approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Society of Interior Decorators (ASID), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
In 2011 the MIA provided over 140 CEU classes across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
