SURFACES
NEW DISTRESSED STONE
Lapicida, New York, introduces eight new products to their line of natural stone that’s newly cut and distressed by hand to resemble the authentic antique, allowing for use in larger quantities. The new stones from the United Kingdom-based processor-distributor offer alternatives to Blond Barr, Dalle de Bourgogne, Barr Montpellier and Antique Jerusalem, among others. All are available for order through the U.S. Lapicida Showroom at the D&D Building in New York.

MARBLE-LOOK QUARTZ
Vicostone USA, Dallas, introduces Venatino (BQ8660), a marble-look quartz surface that combines the qualities of the company’s dynamically bold Borghini and elegantly subtle Statuario colors. All of the company’s products are available in 56” X 120” slabs, with some in jumbo (65” X 129”) sizes; available thicknesses are 1cm, 1.2cm,2cm and 3cm. Vicostone is available through its network of distributors.

PORCELAIN SUPERSHEET
COTTO, Bangkok, Thailand, introduces its GRANDE collection of supersheet porcelain slabs. Materials are a nominal 63” X 126”; depending on the color, slabs are 1.2cm (for countertops) or 0.6cm thick (suitable for flooring or wall-cladding). All sheets offer a full body color with low water absorption rate, thereby offering better stain resistance and easy cleaning. Fired at a temperature of more than 1000° C, the material is highly resistant to impact, alkaline and heat. Available looks include varieties of marble, basalt, cement and woodstone.

NEW QUARTZ COLLECTION
Hanwha Surfaces, Atlanta, introduces the marble-inspired Cascina Collection for its HanStone Quartz product line. Named for a Tuscany village, it pays homage to the old world with unique veining patterns and colors mirroring the look of Carrara marble. The new colors are: ItalianWaves with rich, grey veining; ClassicStatue, with subtle wispy veining complemented by distinctcontrastingdarker-veined undertones; Tranquility, a crisp white marble withafeathery contrasting charcoal vein; and Serenity, with warm, layered tones partnered with graceful wisps of umberandsienna.

MACHINERY
DIAMOND SAW
CS Unitec, Norwalk, Conn., introduces the 5” Diamond Saw is ideal for wet or dry cutting of tile, natural stone, stoneware, pavers and more. The EDS 125 produces stepless mitered cuts up to 45˚ without the need for tools, making it suitable for joint milling. The saw is able to plunge cut and has a maximum depth of cut of 1-3/8”. Curved cuts can be made with an optional corresponding diamond blade. The saw features an 11.4 Amp motor, yielding a load speed of 12,500 RPM. The EDS 125 has an integrated water supply with flow regulator to easily adjust the water volume; a dust collection port can be connected to an industrial vacuum system. The unit is supplied standard with a 5” diamond blade and assembly tools.

SURFACE TAMPER
CS Unitec Inc., Norwalk, Conn., offers the Trelawny™ VL LRS Back Fill Tamper for safe compaction close to walls and around objects such as fragile pipes, utility poles and water meters. Integrated Vibro-Lo™ vibration reduction technology reduces operator fatigue, increases efficiency and helps to prevent injury. Equipped with a 4” x 4” foot tamper, Model 150.5330 uses 1,300 blows per minute to compact material up to 136 lbs. per cubic foot. The tool is 50” in length and weighs 48 lbs.; a variety of foot plates are available to suit the size and shape of the work area.
