MSI Expands in Midwest
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – A recent expansion by M S International Inc. (MSI) in the Chicago area may be centered on stone tile, but it’s also a boon for customers looking for slabs.
MSI’s new tile distribution center in Elk Grove Village, Ill., enabled the Orange, Calif.-based stone importer and suppler to double its slab capacity in the region. One of the largest slab facilities in the Midwest, the site will stock the company’s full line of more than 250 colors of granite, marble, quartz, travertine, onyx, limestone and slate.
The facility will also include five overhead cranes, RFID, lighting and carpeting to provide a customer-friendly slab-selection experience.
With both a tile and slab facility at Elk Grove Village, MSI now maintains more than 120,000 ft² of warehouse space to store more than 500 truckloads of natural stone.
“Despite the current economic environment, the expansion of MSI-Chicago demonstrates MSI’s long-term commitment to its customers in the Midwest region,” said Sanjay Sanghvi, MSI senior vice president. “From both a geographical and distribution perspective, MSI-Chicago can efficiently distribute product to the states of Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Indiana.
“With this additional space, we can continue to broaden our existing product lines of natural stone, tile, and quartz surfaces to benefit our customers. Indeed, with this additional distribution facility, MSI’s Illinois branch now boasts over two-million square feet of natural-stone and tile inventory available to service its customers.”
The new tile distribution center is located at 940 Greenleaf Ave. in Elk Grove Village.
