Montresor Moves Under Biesse Group Umbrella
PESARO, Italy – Montresor & C. S.r.l., a producer of stone-edge-polishing equipment for close to a half-century, will be under new ownership this month.
The Villafranca di Verona, Italy-based manufacturer will now be operated as a joint venture between Intermac and Donatoni Macchine s.r.l.
Intermac, the division of the Pesaro-based Biesse Group responsible for designing and marketing machinery for working glass, stone and metal processing technologies, also announced on July 19 an agreement to acquire 60% of Movetro s.r.l., a manufacturer of automated systems for storing and handling glass flat-panels.
Montresor, founded in 1959, originally worked in general mechanical construction. In the late 1960s, the founding managers decided to specialize in one market: edge polishers.
The range of edge polishers Montresor comprises three technologically different series of machines. This allows to satisfy the most different needs in the field of marble, granite, stone and porcelain for retail-oriented clients as well as those of larger companies with a stronger focus on highly technological solutions.
The Montresor acquisition is part of Intermac’s two-year partnership with Domegliara, Italy-based Donatoni, a manufacturer of CNC production centers.
Both the Monteresor and Movetro acquisitions, according to a statement from Biesse, are highly strategic and will enable Intermac to increase its 4.0 solution product offer in glass and stone.
Biesse Group is a multinational leader in technological solutions for working wood, glass, stone, plastic and metals. It invests more than €14 million annually in R&D and has over 200 registered patents. The Group has nine manufacturing sites, 37 subsidiaries, and uses 300 selected agents and resellers.
