Mile-High Meet for Park Industries
DENVER — Park Industries’ Digital Stoneworking Expo here on April 19 drew about 100 stone fabricators from around North America.
Countertop fabricators and professionals gathered for an education on increasing efficiency and maximizing profitability. The two-day event was full of shop tours, real stories from fabricators with metrics, and lively discussion on the digital fabrication process.
On the day before the expo, a tour of four local fabrication shops gave attendees the chance to watch Park machines in action and sparked discussion on different digital fabrication techniques.
During the expo, attendees listened to industry experts as they discussed discuss how digital technology has transformed their processing of countertops. Fabricators heard first-hand how the advancements in technology impact their bottom lines from:
- Geoffrey Gran (The Countertop Factory Midwest, Addison, Ill.);
- Dave Scott (Slabworks of Montana, Bozeman, Mont.);
- Liz Roth (Keystone Granite, Winnipeg, Man.); and
- Jeff Brekhus (Brekhus Tile & Stone, Denver).
During the expo, Park also provided hands-on demonstrations from Moraware, Laser Products, Alphacam, and SlabSmith. The event closed with a tour of Brekhus Tile & Stone and a panel discussion.
“The DSE helped me realize that since my business was not evolving and adapting,” said Darren Hinton of Mountain View Surfaces in Palisade, Colo. “I was on the road to extinction.”
2018 marks the 10th-year anniversary of Park Industries’ hosting of Digtal Stoneworking Expos. Each expo continues to bring forth refreshing, innovative content. The conversations that are ignited during the event continue to evolve and inspire new advancements in fabricators’ shops.
