MIA Offers Continuing Ed for Landscape Architects

CLEVELAND – The Marble Institute of America (MIA) is expanding its continuing education program to include landscape architects.

The Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES) now recognizes four continuing-education unit (CEU) classes from the MIA:

 Introduction to Natural Stone I
 Introduction to Natural Stone II
Genuine Stone: A Natural Choice for Sustainable Design
Genuine Stone / The Natural Choice

“Adding landscape architects to our CEU program is the culmination of years of hard work,” said Jim Hieb, MIA vice president. “We are now able to offer CEUs to designers and architects who work in nearly every area of design that crosses paths with MIA members.

“The MIA Education Committee, chaired by Josh Levinson, ushered in and helped grow this program. It’s already paying dividends for the members who are taking advantage of this program.”

The MIA’s Continuing Education Program offers qualified MIA members with MIA-developed educational presentations (PowerPoint) and support materials to facilitate designer and architect lunch-n-learn, chapter, in-house, or individual design-firm sessions.

Member firms are able to use the MIA’s approved CEU provider status without taking on many of the administrative burdens typically associated with providing approved continuing education sessions.

LA CES establishes, maintains, and enforces standards for evaluating professional development and continuing education programs for landscape architects. It’s a collaboration of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture,Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board and Landscape Architecture Foundation.
