MATERIALS: Marble from the United States
Arizona Marble Co., Willcox, Ariz., now offers three unique colors from the Grand Canyon State.
Tucked away in the Chiricahua Mountains in Cochise County is the 110-year old Arizona Marble Co. quarry. The marble deposit is expansive, covering over 320 acres. The quarry was established in 1908 and thrived for years before eventually ceasing in 1937.
In 2002, the quarry was purchased by the Klump family who had a vision to bring this highly prized material back into the market. In 2013, modern quarrying techniques were established and new ground has been broken.
Arizona Statuario, Arizona Ash, and Apache Blue are all available in slabs, tile, blocks and other products.
The chemical analysis of this marble shows that it contains 99.9% calcium carbonate. Absorption is nearly null at .10% and its compressive strength is 14,000 Psi. No weakness is present at the veins. Full ASTM Test Results are available on their website.
Because of its quality and purity, very large blocks are able to be quarried, with some reaching more than 275 ft³ with 10’ by 6’ slabs. The marble is sold as raw blocks, in standard tile and slab sizes, and for custom cut-to-size projects. A variety of finishes are also available.
