Lotte Expands Belanco Quartz Production
SEOUL, South Korea — Lotte Chemical will begin operating a third production line later this month at its Belenco quartz-surfaces plant in Turkey.
BusinessKorea reports that commercial production with the line will begin by the end of January, with an annual capacity of 120,000 slabs.
Belenco, acquired by Lotte Chemical in March 2019, will now have three lines in operation, with a total annual capacity of 350,000 slabs. All use engineered-stone techonology from Breton S.p.a.
Lotte Chemical noted that it spent $30 million for the expansion. Belanco is the largest producer of quartz surfaces in Turkey.
The Belenco plant is near Manisa, Turkey, located 185 miles southwest of Istanbul.
BusinessKorea also reports that Lotte Chemical’s original quartz-surfaces factory in Yeosu, South Korea, now has a total production capacity of 440,000 slabs annually.
“Our strategy is to increase our production capacity, while simultaneously investing in advanced manufacturing technologies allowing us to deliver premium quartz surfaces to a global customer base,” stated Youngjun Lee, president of LOTTE Chemical Advanced Materials. “The new third line in our Belenco plant in Turkey is a major step to becoming the world’s leader in the manufacture of engineered stone over the next four years.”
