Levinson, Van Etten Elected to MIA Board
OBERLIN, Ohio – The membership of the Marble Institute of America elected Joshua Levinson and Bernard Van Etten III to serve five-year terms, beginning next month, on the group’s board of directors.
Levinson of Artistic Tile in Secaucus, N.J., will represent the Mid-Atlantic zone of the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. He replaces Jonathan Zanger of Walker Zanger, who served as MIA president in 2013.
Van Etten, of Murphy Marble in Chicago, will represent the Midwest zone which includes Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. He fills the seat held by Dan Rea of Coldspring, who will continue service on the board as 2015 MIA president.
Levinson, Artistic Tile’s president, has been with the firm for 18 years. He’s a current member and past chair of the MIA Education Committee, a member of the Joint Committee on Dimension Stone that created the new NSC 373 Sustainability Standard, and a charter member and co-chair of the MIA NY Metro Chapter.
Levinson is currently a member of the MIA Education Committee, the MIA Technical Committee and the NTCA Technical Committee. He’s also MIA representative on the Natural Stone Council board of director, and serves on the Tile Council of North America Handbook Committee. Artistic Tile has been an MIA member for 10 years.
Van Etten has been with Murphy Marble for over 29 years, and a fourth-generation member of his company that’s furnished and installed stone in Chicago for the past 115 years. Presently, he serves as a management trustee of the Health and Welfare and Pension Funds for local marble setters, and he currently sits on the MIA Accreditation Commission. Murphy Marble has been an MIA member for over 31 years.
Both Levinson and Van Etten will begin their board terms at TISE 2015, including StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, next month in Las Vegas.
