The Spanish surface-materials company announced last month that it purchased a factory from Keros Cerámica in Nules, Spain, for production of its Techlam® large-format panels. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.

Levantina will retool the Nules plant, current set for traditional ceramics production, to produce the large-format slabs. The company will invest €50 million for Techlam production in Nules and in its current porcelain factory in Novelda, which recently received a new state-of-the-art printer.

The expansion of porcelain-panel production is part of a continuing redirection of Levantina, founded in 1959, from its original natural-stone production roots. In late 2020, the company reformed into three operating divisions: Levantina Techlam; LevGranite for its granite production; and Levantina Mármol, operating its renowned marble quarrying and processing in Spain.

London’s Bybrook Capital became the primary investor in Levantina in May 2018, taking over from BNP Paribas. Bybrook is now part of Polus Capital Management in London, a private-equity subsidiary of Milan-based Mediobanca.
