Laminam Doubles Production at Italian Facility
BORGO VAL DI TARO, Italy – Laminam celebrated the doubling of production capacity at its plant here on Nov. 5.
The event, attended by 150 guests, included speeches by company, industry and government officials at the factory set in Italy’s Apennine Mountains.
The increasd capacity included the installation of a second double-deck kiln, giving a firing outlet for each of the company’s automated press-and-print lines for creating large-format porcelain slabs.
“In our evolution, we are inspired by guidelines that focus on excellence, which see in digital transformation, internationalisation and sustainable innovation the driving forces for our new era,” said Alberto Selmi, Laminam CEO, at the event.
The expansion is part of an investment plan of over €50 million for expanding and renovating all Laminam factories using innovative technologies developed together with the main suppliers and partners. The company also operates production facilities at its headquarters in Fiorano Modenese, Italy, and Obninsk, Russia.
Last year, Laminam also adopted an integrated Quality-Environment-Safety policy, achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Certification for its Italian factories and extended EPD Certification to all its products, completed a study of the company’s carbon footprint and published its second Sustainability Report.
Selmi also noted that, in the first three quarters this year, the entire company recorded growth of 43% from the same time in 2019. (During the major period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Laminam kept revenues in 2020 on part with 2019.) Its surfaces are distributed in more than 100 markets, with international sales accounting for 79% of its consolidated turnover.
In addition to Selmi, speakers included Giovanni Savorani, chairman of Confindustria Ceramica; Edoardo Lanzavecchia, managing partner of the private-equity firm Alpha Group, of which Laminam is a portfolio company; and Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna regional government.
