Italian Stone Machinery Exports Down in 2024
MILAN – Foreign sales of Italian stone processing equipment in 2024 declined 14% from the previous year, according to final statistics processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center.
And, a large portion of that downturn came with United States customers cutting spending on Italian stone-working machinery, installations, equipment and tools.
The total exports of the Italian techno-stone industry last year totaled €969.3 million, down from €1.12 billion in 2023. Foreign sales account for approximately 75% of revenue for the stone-equipment sector.
The 2024 decline came after three consecutive years of annual equipment export growth of more than 7%.

Topping the list of pullbacks is the United States, with €137.5 million in equipment shipments last year showing a 22.2% decline from 2023. The United States is far and away the top foreign client, representing 14% of all exports of Italian stone machinery.
Turkey rose 7.1% to €68.6 million, making the country the second-largest customer of Italian stone-machinery exports. France’s trade in the sector increased by 24.6% to €58.3 million.
Other countries showing a drop in Italian stone machinery last year include Spain (-19.5%), Canada (-12.4%), Germany (-24%) and Poland (-23.9%)
