Int’l Stone Group Meets in Poland
POZNAN, Poland – The World Natural Stone Association (WONASA) held its second public session at the KAMIEN 2010 stone event here on Nov. 10.
The one-hour session featured several speakers on natural-stone promotion. WONASA President R. Veeramani, chairman of Chennai, India’s Gem Granites, noted the importantce of highlighting values represented by natural stone.
Heikki Palin of Turku, Finland-based Palin Granit Oy noted advantanges of natural stone in superior energy efficiency, and cited a German Natural Stone Assocation study that demonstrated stone’s superiority to glass in sustainability through the life cycle of the product.
Anil Taneja, editor of Madrid-based LITOS magazine, focussed on the importance of using a new, different language when communicating to the final consumer, and how to present stone as a consumer product rather than an industrial product.
The Poznan session followed the group’s inaugural presentation at Marmomacc 2010 in Verona, Italy, in late September.
