Hieb Will Be New Head of MIA
CLEVELAND – Jim Hieb will be the new executive vice president of the Marble Institute of America (MIA), effective Feb. 1.
The stone-industry group made the announcement today on its Facebook page.
Hieb joined the MIA in 2003 as special projects director, working on education and membership issues. Among his achievements are a robust continuing-education program, an expansion of safety resources and working with volunteers in the industry to develop the MIA’s credentialing programs.
He received a promotion to MIA vice president in January 2009.
Hieb also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Public Administration and Political Science Department at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio. Since 2002, he’s taught classes that include State & Local Government and American National Government.
Hieb also worked at NASCORP, a subsidiary of the National Association of College Stores, and as economic-development director for Oberlin, Ohio., before his MIA tenure.
He holds an master’s degree in public administration from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.
Hieb will receive the 38th Professional Performance Award from the American Society of Association Executives in Dallas next month. The honor recognizes executives who are at the top level within their organizations, but are not CEOs
Hieb is also the current president of the Greater Cleveland Society of Association Executives.
