Granite Gift for Florida 9/11 Memorial
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – A newly constructed 9/11 memorial at this city’s Civic Center will feature granite donated by importer Marble Of The World.
The memorial, to be unveiled on Sept. 11, features, suspended above a fountain, an actual 11-foot section of metal girder from the fallen World Trade Center in New York. Marble Of The World gave Absolute Black India and Peacock Green granite used in the memorial.
“We are proud to be involved with this project and happy to supply the granite for such an important tribute,” said Charles Urso, Marble Of The World president/owner.
The tribute monument design was approved by Port St. Lucie city officials and built with more than $50,000 worth of donated services and materials according to Tonya Taylor, administrator of the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Marble of The World regularly donates funds and materials to local charities as part of its community support program, including a donation of more than $250,000 in granite for the Lynn University Remembrance Plaza unveiled earlier this year to honor the faculty and students that perished during the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010.
The monument unveiling will follow a remembrance service at the Civic Center, located 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place in Port St. Lucie. The service will begin at 8:30 a.m.
