Gallegos Corporation Lauded for Denver Project
VAIL, Colo. — The Gallegos Corporation recently won multiple awards for their work on the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver.
The Gallegos Corporation performed the exterior stone cladding, the site paving and architectural boulder work on the Judicial Center, located next to Colorado’s state capitol in downtown Denver.
The company won an ACE Award for Best Building Project, Subcontractor, by the Associated General Contractors of Colorado in the single project, $6-10 million category. It also received First Place Grand Award and overall Best of Show at the 2013 Masterworks in Masonry competition hosted by the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute (RMMI).
Gallegos Corporation worked on the project for over two and half years, including a full year in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. The BIM process eliminated over eighty conflicts between stone installation, precast, glazing and waterproofing; allowing the Gallegos Corporation to finish the job on time and within budget.
During the RMMI voting for the Best in Show award, the project was awarded five out of a total possible five in each of the six judging categories, making it the clear winner and was declared “a true achievement in masonry.”
The work at the Judicial Center has also been distinguished by numerous awards in the past several months including project of the year, Engineering News Record (Mountain States Region) presented to the general contractor MA Mortensen.
