Dal-Tile in Sustainability Report
DALLAS — Dal-Tile Corp. and its Daltile, Marazzi and American Olean brands are part of the newly released Mohawk Industries Environmental, Social and Governance Report (ESG).
The latest ESG Report is the 12th from Calhoun, Ga.-based Mohawk (NYSE: MHK). Dal-Tile Corp. is a Mohawk subsidiary.
Many of Mohawk’s achievements in sustainability come from the company’s continuous and creative journey to improve the sustainability of its products and operations. The report details how Mohawk utilizes bio-based fuel, has invested in solar and wind energy, has reduced water usage and recovers and reuses waste material to produce high-quality products around the world.
Mohawk is the world’s largest ceramic tile producer, and more than 450 of the company’s floor and wall tile products contain pre- and post-consumer recycled content.
“With 100% of our manufactured tile products containing recycled or reclaimed material, we help prevent an average of 175 million pounds per year from ending up in our nation’s landfills,” said Paij Thorn-Brooks, Dal-Tile Corp. marketing vice president. “Additionally, ten of our 12 North American tile manufacturing plants recover and reuse 100% of the generated process wastewater. Each year, we recycle over 125 million gallons of wastewater.”
“As we continue to increase the strength of our sustainability platform, responsible manufacturing remains a major focus for Dal-Tile,” Thorn-Brooks added. “Currently, we produce 100 percent natural, environmentally-friendly tile. Our tiles are made from only natural materials: water, clay, sand, feldspar, and other minerals. Our tiles contain zero VOCs, zero PVCs, zero allergens, and zero formaldehyde.”
“Our Dal-Tile team is keenly-focused on demanding the very best from ourselves as we strive to lead by example with eco-friendly choices and business practices that are grounded in integrity and responsibility,” said Matt Kahny, Dal-Tile Corp. president. “We are passionate about producing outstanding, innovative products that exceed our customers’ expectations while also ensuring we are good stewards of our communities, people and planet.”
“We look forward to doing great things as we continue to grow our multi-facetted sustainability program,” Thorn-Brooks added. “Our commitment to having a positive impact on the world around us is one of the core pillars of our business.”
Dal-Tile has more than 9,000 employees in North America and sells its products through a network of more than 300 company-owned sales service centers, stone slab yards and design studios as well as through independent distributors and leading home center retailers nationwide.
