DENVER – Crossville Inc. acquired substantially all assets earlier this month of CAPCO Tile & Stone LLC., a distribution business headquartered here. Terms were not made public.
With multiple locations throughout Colorado and one showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada, CAPCO joins Crossville’s existing company-owned distribution arm, Crossville Tile & Stone (CT&S), which has a presence throughout parts of the southeast U.S., Oklahoma, and Texas.
The acquisition comes as a result of a unique convergence of factors that resulted in a strong opportunity for both Crossville and CAPCO, said Tim Curran, co-president of the Curran Group, the holding company that owns Crossville.
“We’ve built our nearly 30-year old business on an immovable commitment and loyalty to our distributors, who are truly our partners in the marketplace,” Curran explains. “That’s why we have never actively sought to acquire distributorships, but, instead, have been open to opportunities as they have naturally arisen and proved to be beneficial for our business and brand long-term.
“The addition of CAPCO to our CT&S family puts all entities in a position of strength going forward.”
Established in Colorado Springs, Colo., in June 1977, CAPCO moved its main warehouse and showroom to Denver the following year. In the late 1980s,CAPCO opened branches in Las Vegas, along with the Colorado cities of Fort Collins and Carbondale. In the 1990s, it established more Colorado branches in Grand Junction, Avon, Silverthorne and Boulder.
In 2000, CAPCO added stone slabs to its product line, with warehouses in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Basalt. In 2001, the company moved to a new, 87,000 ft² facility in Denver.
Caffery Capital Partners LLC, a Chicago-area private equity investment firm, purchased CAPCO in July 2006 with a focus on service and reliability aimed toward further growth and expansion.
