Creative Edge acquires Custom Flooring Insets
Move strengthens Creative’s position in architectural fabrication.
FAIRFIELD, Iowa – Large-scale waterjet fabricator Creative Edge acquired Custom Flooring Insets (CFI) of East Dundee, Ill. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.
The acquisition merges complementary skills, bolstering Creative Edge’s position as one of the largest U.S. waterjet operations and expanding custom architectural service offerings.
CFI has partnered with Chicago-area flooring contractors since 1946, engineering and fabricating custom flooring designs from their plant in East Dundee, IL. In addition to its deep expertise in resilient flooring — rubber, sheet vinyl, and vinyl tile — CFI, like Creative Edge, also creates custom flooring in stone, tile, and carpet for luxury residential and commercial projects
“The more we got to know each other’s business, the clearer it became that this partnership was smart – for both companies and for our collective customers,” said Jim Thompson, Chicago-based Creative Edge EVP & Chief Commercial Officer.
“The synergies are obvious – our commitment to our customers and quality products are a match, and our merged project portfolio makes us the most experienced fabricator of custom stone, tile, resilient, and carpet surfaces in the country,” said Nate Weaton, CEO of Creative Edge and its parent company, Weaton Capital.” The proximity of the 150,000 ft² Creative Edge plant to the Chicago market is another plus that will allow us to seamlessly serve CFI customers.”
Al Stensrud, CFI President added that “I have known Creative Edge for many years. They are committed to delivering quality products, and I am happy to pass the torch to such a well-respected company.”
Current CFI customers will receive new benefits including expanded capacity, new services including custom terrazzo products, and access to Creative Edge’s state-of-the-art technology and experienced designers and technicians. The expanded company will be marketed under the Creative Edge brand.
