Cosentino Reports $271M in U.S. Sales Last Year; 8% Increase
STAFFORD, Texas – The sales went up with Cosentino Group last year in the United States … and the growth rate’s going to get even better in the next two years.
The Almeria, Spain, company made $271 million in U.S. sales of quartz surfaces and natural stone last year – up eight percent from 2010. The quarrier/manufacturer/distributor also noted, in a report to top customers last month, that North American sales account for almost half of its total worldwide revenue.
Cosentino also forecasts up to 18-percent annual growth in U.S. sales during the next two years, topping $365 million in 2013. The company noted that, in particular, the housing market is recovering, and increased spending on home renovation is expected in the coming years.
“The company is poised to respond to new opportunities as the country begins to grow again, and as consumers dedicate more resources to home improvement, our primary business segment,” said Eduardo Martínez-Cosentino, Cosentino North America CEO.
Sales growth will be fueled, in part, by the company’s plans to open 10 additional education/exhibition Cosentino Centers in U.S. metropolitan markets to support residential and commercial sales. Located in San Francisco, San Diego, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Portland, Ore., among other locations, the new facilities will bring the total number of U.S. Cosentino Centers to 22 by the end of the year. (Cosentino operates 72 centers worldwide.)
Last year, the company also opened a logistics hub in the Houston area, which is home to the headquarters of Cosentino North America. The company is currently studying the possibility of a second U.S. hub or central logistics center.
“The new facility will increase our commercial capacity and strengthen our business model in the United States, allowing us to reach more customers even more efficiently,” said Francisco Martinez-Cosentino, chairman of the Cosentino Group. “This will include a growing number of stone fabricators and-home improvement centers, and also kitchen-and-bath specialists, architects and designers.”
Cosentino announced its 2011 revenue and 2012 projections at its annual “Cosentino 100” Distributors Convention in Mexico last month.
