Cosentino President Gets Lifetime Honor
BARCELONA, Spain — Francisco Martínez-Cosentino, president of the Cosentino Group, is the winner of the sixth edition of the Kingdom of Spain Entrepreneurial Career Award.
The president of the award jury, Carme Riera, member of the Royal Spanish Academy and professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, announced the decision today.
Founded by the Spanish entrepreneur associations Círculo de Empresarios, Cercle d’Economia and Círculo de Empresarios Vascos, the award recognizes a lifetime achievement in the business world marked by job creation, innovation, internationalization, and social cooperation.
Martínez-Cosentino will receive the honor from King Felipe VI in a ceremony later this year.
Since founding the Marmoles Cosentino company with his brothers 40 years ago, Martínez-Cosentino guided the enterprise into the current Cosentino Group, an international entity with a presence in 40 countries that employs almost 5,000 people and posts an annual income of €1.1 billion euros.
“Its permanent commitment to society and the local communities where it is present is evident with the numerous donations of protection materials and the offering of its logistics in response to the current pandemic, in addition to creating, promoting or being part of different solidarity initiatives,” noted the award announcement.
The award also notes Cosentino’s “contribution to the economic and social development of Spain over several decades of effort and work, creating employment, internationalizing its activities and contributing to the improvement of its environment and the well-being of the country”
The award also cites Cosentino’s efforts of “combining in an excellent way professional interests with social, artistic and cultural causes, reasons that make it a benchmark for future generations”.
This award aims to distinguish the career, and honor as an example, of a business figure who has carried out in Spain an important work in terms of job creation, investment, and internationalization, and has contributed to the progress and well-being of Spanish society as a whole.
The award consists of a reproduction of a medal of merit, dating back to 1764 from the reign of Carlos III.
