Dekton® Plant Officially Opens
CANTORIA, Spain – Cosentino Group’s new Dekton® production plant officially opened this month with a delegation that included a member of the Spanish royal family and leading government officials.
Prince of Asturias, presided over the June 10 opening ceremony of the plant, which will manufacture the glass/ceramic-hybrid compact surface.
Felipe, theDuring the ceremony and tour of the new facilities, the heir apparent to the Spanish throne praised Cosentino as “a company to be proud of, for Almeria, for Andalucia and for Spain. The success and the compromise of this company unite exemplary characteristics.”
The event also attracted José Manuel Soria, Spain’s minister of industry, education and tourism; José Antonio Griñán, president of the Andelusia government; Antonio Ávila, Andalucía minister of economy and innovation; and other regional and local authorities.
During the plant tour, the prince and other authorities viewed Dekton’s manufacturing process, including the exclusive Technology of Sintered Particles (TSP). Prince Felipe greeted and chatted with factory workers throughout the tour.
The Dekton plant currently includes a 70,000 m² (753,473 ft²) area and one production line. The facility can be expanded with three additional lines for a total surface area to 200,000 m² (2.1 million ft²) and production capacity of 6,000 slabs daily. The plant is part of the expansion of the Cosentino Group industrial park in Almeria, which adds 580,000 m² (6.2 million ft²) for a one-million-plus m² (10.7 million ft²) production area.
“This opening, just like our other investments only further reaffirm our commitment to the region and Spain,” said Francisco Martínez-Cosentino, Cosentino Group chairman. “We continue to develop innovative with high added value and create jobs here, with the aim of selling abroad and consolidating our international leadership. It is an honor and pride for all of us that this commitment is endorsed with the presence here today of His Royal Highness, The Prince of Asturias, the Minister of Industry and other authorities.”
