Clio Holdings Acquires Solid Surfaces Inc.
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — Clio Holdings LLC acquired Rochester, N.Y.-based Solid Surface Inc. last month. Terms of the deal weren’t released.
The acquisition pushes Clio’s revenue to $80 million with more than 500 employees in 11 locations. Clio was founded last June by Birmingham-based investment firm Oakland Standard Co. LLC.
Mitch Makowski founded Solid Surfaces more than 30 years ago; today, with locations in Buffalo and Rochester, the company is among the largest fabricators and installers of quartz, granite and solid surface countertops in upstate New York. Accredited by the Marble Institute of America and as a member of The Artisan Group, Solid Surfaces is known for having quality product and installation.
“Mitch and Mark Makowski built an impressive business, and we’re proud to have Solid Surfaces join the Clio team as the base for growth in the Northeast,” said Bryan Tolles, Clio founder and Oakland Standard partner. “I want to thank our partners, O2 Investment Partners and Tecum Capital, who have continued to provided invaluable support as we develop Clio into one of the largest and most successful businesses in the countertop supply and fabrication industry.”
Clio brings leading regional countertop suppliers and fabricators together providing the capital and operational expertise to upgrade, differentiate and professionalize a highly fragmented industry. Following the acquisition of Solid Surfaces, Clio has a nine-state footprint serving a full spectrum within the countertop industry, from new homebuilders and commercial contractors to kitchen/bath dealers and home improvement centers.
