Clio Holdings Acquires Premier Surfaces Inc.

BIRMINGHAM, Mich.Clio Holdings LLC continues its move into the stone-fabrication market today by acquiring Premier Surfaces Inc. of Alpharetta, Ga.

clio psEric Tryon, Premier Surfaces’ owner and founder, also takes a management position with Clio as CEO.

The deal marks the sixth acquisition of a fabrication company in less than a year by Clio, a holding company formed by Birmingham investment firm Oakland Standard last June.

Premier Surfaces began operations in 2002. It acquired operations in Birmingham, Ala., and Chattanooga, Tenn., and later opened a new location in Huntsville, Ala.

Tryon and his business team were successful in transforming each business by sharing best practices and implementing a teamwork mentality for all associates. Today, Premier Surfaces’ four locations are thriving and continue to receive top marks from their diverse mix of big box, builder, contractor, dealer and retail business.

“Our shared vision for the industry quickly became apparent after meeting with Clio and Oakland Standard,” said Tryon. “I’ll always be there for my team at Premier Surfaces, but now I’m looking forward to championing the successful development of the Clio family.”

“Premier Surfaces is a leader in the countertop industry with a progressive approach that fits well with our plans for the growth and investment across Clio’s business units,” said Bryan Tolles, Oakland Standard partner and and founder of Clio. “Eric is dynamic, personable, and principled – all key traits that made him a successful leader of the Clio organization.”

Oakland Standard, with support from investment firms O2 Investment Partners and Tecum Capital Partners, created Clio to partner leading countertop suppliers and fabricators together and provide capital and operational expertise in a highly-fragmented industry.

Since last June, Clio’s acquisitions include Top Master Inc. in Kansas City, Kan.; Solid Surfaces Inc. in Rochester, N.Y.; Granite Source Inc. in Chantilly, Va.; Princess Marble in Burnsville, Minn.; and US Marble Inc. in Remus, Mich.

Clio now generates more than $100 million in annual revenue at 17 U.S. locations with more than 1,000 employees.
