Carrara’s Marmotec: A Brand-New Look
MARINA di CARRARA, Italy – The summer stone event scheduled here for June is definitely not the same old Carrara show.
After years of declining attendance, Carrara Marmotec sports a new name for 2018 – carrara² — and a revamped presentation for different audiences of industry buyers.
The event – slated for June 2-9 – focuses on the area’s marble history, with two different event structures: one for stone procurement/sales, and the other for quarrying/fabrication technology.
The sales side — White Carrara Downtown, part of Marmotec’s 2017 event – gets equal billing as a place for materials presentation and business from June 2-8. It includes multiple events in the town, as well as open-door company meetings and a host of business-to-business (B2B) sessions to match buyers and sellers.
The technology side – Marmotec Hub 4.0 – offers exhibits and demos of stone equipment from June 4-8 at the Carrara Exhibition Centre. The concept event is designed along the Industry 4.0 trend of “smart factories,” and emphasizes the development of cyber-physical systems in stone processing.
The retooled event also includes a hefty price tag for full access – €500 – but the fee buys more than a show badge.
Two attendee packages – one for stone materials and one for technology – include one technical seminar/workshop, 10 B2B meetings, a local quarry tour, a full day of factory tours, entry to Marmotec Hub 4.0, bus transportation to events and two nights of hotel accommodations. The stone-materials package also entry to an exclusive auction of blocks and slabs on June 8.
The event also offers a free-admission package including the Technology Hub 4.0 and free use of the local bus-shuttle service.
Reservations for the attendee packages should be made by April 15.
