Cachoeiro Stone Show Off for This Year
VITÓRIA, Brazil – There won’t be a Cachoeiro Stone Fair in Brazil this summer.
Milanez & Milaneze, organizer of the event, announced late last week that the 2021 session would not be held “due to the current situation and the forecasts of the government bodies for the upcoming months about the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The 2021 edition was slated for Aug 24-27 in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, 62 miles southwest of Vitória and a hub of natural-stone quarrying and processing in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo.
Event organizers also scheduled the next edition for August 2022.
The organizers made the decision in tandem with sponsoring entity Sindicato das Indústrias de Rochas Ornamentais, Cal e Calcários do Estado do Espírito Santo – SINDIROCHAS.
“We were in constant dialogue with companies, entities representing the sector, the state government and the municipality of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, evaluating the possible scenarios for the event, aware of the importance of the fair not only for the natural stone industry, but also for the economy of Espírito Santo,” noted Milanez & Milaneze in a June 11 statement.
“However, given the proximity of the event and after analyzing the information and data available so far, we believe that it is a more prudent decision to postpone the fair to the next year, confirming the next edition for the period from August 23-26, 2022,” according to the statement.
Concerns arising from the global pandemic also led organizers to the cancellation of the 2020 edition. In the interim, Milanez and Milaneze – along with Brazilian trade groups – are holding online Stone Summit sessions and other activities.
During the last edition held – the 30th annual Cachoeiro Stone Fair in August 2019 – more than 17,000 attendees came t the event from across Brazil and 16 other countries.
“For over 30 years, the Marble and Granite Fair has been a platform for visibility and business generation,” noted this year’s announcement. “Together, we will continue to seek innovative solutions to the natural stone sector – with projects like Stone Summit, for example – bringing value and facilitating the growth of our partners.”
