BSI Fall Tour in Colorado
CHESTERTOWN, N.Y. – It’s another trek out West to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for this year’s fall study tour from the Building Stone Institute (BSI).
The program, set for Sept. 9-11, includes quarry tours, a member forum and old-fashioned Western hospitality, with Boulder, Colo., serving as the base.
Events include a full day of tours on Sept. 10, including two quarrying/processing operations; presentations on local quarrying and geology; and a visit to a LEED® Gold-rated medical facility incorporating natural stone (with the tour given by the architect and the landscape architect).
The activities continue on Sept. 11 with a member forum in the morning and an afternoon tour of the University of Colorado with campus architect Paul Leef AIA/LEED AP.
The schedule also includes a Sept. 9 reception/dinner; lunch at a quarrier’s stone yard on Sept. 10; and a Sept. 11 lunch at Folsom Stadium’s clubhouse and evening reception at the Hotel Boulderado.
Optional activities on the evening of Sept. 10 include Banjo Billy’s Boulder Bus Tour or the Boulder Walking Tour.
Tour lodging will be at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa, with access to the city’s Pearl Street Mall and within walking distance to BSI’s Boulder activities.
The closest commercial airport is Denver (DEN), an approximate 45-minute drive from Boulder. Denver International Airport (DIA) offers numerous rental car and shared ride services; SuperShuttle offers a special rate for the St. Julian at $27 one-way per person (enter JUL in Hotel/Landmark destination option prompt).
Early registration rates for the tour, excluding lodging/breakfast, are $395 per BSI member and $495 for non-member guests.
Early registration all-inclusive rates, including lodging/breakfast at the St. Julien, are $1,195 for a BSI member, and $595 for a second person in the room with double occupancy; non-member rates are $1,395/$795.
