PASSINGS: Elio E. Salvo
Elio E. Salvo, 84, founder of Miracle Sealants Co., on April 9 in Arcadia, Calif., after a brief battle with cancer.
With a family tradition in stone and tile, Salvo founded Arcadia-based Miracle Sealants in the early 1980s. With his two sons, Joseph and Albert, he developed a new generation of products for care and maintenance of stone, tile and grout. In 1984, the company’s first product – 511 Impregnator – coined the term “impregnator” for the market.
Salvo was born in Boston on Sept. 7, 1928, the son of Joseph Salvo, an Italian immigrant and founder of a successful stone, tile and terrazzo company in New England. The family moved to California after World War II.
Salvo was also involved with Scouting, Youth Baseball, Junior All American Football, high school booster clubs and many charities.
He is predeceased by his wife, Pauline, whom he married in 1950. She passed away in 1999, only months before the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his four children: Debra, Connie, Joseph and Albert, along with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
