New Name for Online Tile Course

SAN DIEGO – There’s a new name for a new online course offered by the The University of Ceramic Tile and Stone (UofCTS) for tile installation.

Tile Installer Thin-set Standards (ITS) Verification is the new title for the four-hour course to learn the industry installation standards, methods, and manufacturers’ requirements for the thin-set application. The course is available in English or Spanish, and can be completed during a 14-day period with round-the-clock access to the UofCTS website.

UCTSThe course was previously titled Tile Installer Thin-set Certification (TITC). The UofCTS worked with the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) to change the name so it wouldn’t be confused with the CTEF Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program, which includes an onsite installation test.

The ITS Verification course was developed for tile and stone installers who work with stone tile, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, glass tile, or any other adhered tile product. After reviewing industry standards, it explains how to judge if substrates meet those standards, how to prepare the substrate, and how to properly install the tile to achieve adequate thin-set contact/coverage.

The course tuition is $150 per person. The UofCTS also offers volume discounts.

A short video preview of the Tile Installer Thin-set Standards (ITS) Verification course is available here. More information is available on the UofCTS and its programs at its website.
