Passings: Michael Job, 57
Michael Keith Job, 57, president of Quality Surfaces Inc. in Spencer, Ind., on Dec. 25, 2011, from injuries sustained in a scooter accident at Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Job founded Quality Surfaces in 1991 after working in the construction business. He graduated from Owen Valley High School in Spencer, and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in business from Indiana University.
Job was a founding member of The Artisan Group, a North American network of independent fabricators of custom countertops.
Job also worked with numerous community-service efforts in southern Indiana, including the Restore program of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.
Job also enjoyed relaxing with friends, as fellow Artisan Group member Jon Lancto remembered from a fishing trip when the fish weren’t biting (and where the accompanying photo of Job was taken).
“It was about spending time with friends,” Lancto said. “Of course catching a fish would have been fun too.
“Mike was the kind of guy that would do anything to help you out. A true friend to us all. We will all miss him.”
As noted in his obituary in the Spencer Evening World, Job is survived by sister, Sky Rachelle Job of Spencer; brother Monte Lee Job of Austin, Texas; nephews David Michael Weymouth of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Joshua Adam Hillenberg of Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; and his three dogs – Ellie, Becka and Sierra, the two-legged wonder dog.
A celebration of the life of Mike Job will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2120 N. Fee Lane, Bloomington, Ind., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 8.
Memorial donations can be made to any of Job’s favorite charities, listed here on Quality Surfaces’ website
