VIDEO: The Art of the Trade Show, Italian Style

 

A group of architects, artists and designers offer their intepretations of natural stone through the “Marmomacc Meets Design” program at this year’s trade event last month in Verona, Italy. (All videos subtitled in English; courtesy Marmomacc)

 

For Margraf, architect Flavio Albanese finds inspiration from of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s classic sculpture of Greek mythology where nymph Daphne is transformed into a tree.

 

At Trentino Pietra, Riccardo Blumer (with Donata Tomasina) constructs an air-filled spheere to support 500 kilos (1,102 lbs) of stone.

 

The work of Raffaello Galiotto for Lithos Design takes stone used mainly for cladding and adapting it to structural material in a modular design.  use of cladding as structural stone. (Galiotto and Lithos also earned a “Best Communicator Award” at the event for their work.)
