Continuing Ed for U.S. Architects in Brazil
WASHINGTON — U.S. architects can gain continuing-education credits this February in Brazil during a course running concurrently with the Vitória Stone Fair/Marmomacc Latin America.
Veronafiere’s Marmomacc Stone Academy will offer the first natural-stone-design education course for architects in Brazil officially recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). “Designing with Natural Stone Brazil 2014” will be offered in Vitoria, from February 18th to February 21st, 2014.
The course will provide 15.5 AIA-approved credits, most qualifying as HSW credits. Participants -including architects from the U.S., Canada and Brazil – will learn about stone sourcing, new technologies and surface finishings; visit a nearby granite quarry and processing plant; and be given a guided tour of the fair.
The program is a unique combination of classroom lectures, guided architectural tours, and field trips to local quarries, as well as to natural-stone processing facilities. This comprehensive approach enables architects to better understand stone’s full life-cycle — including how marble is quarried, cut, processed, finished, selected for specific jobs and installed – and covers the latest technologies and products.
Scholarships will be granted to selected architects and will cover — in addition to the three-day educational program – three hotel nights, meals and other local expenses during the course. Participants will be responsible for travel to and from Vitória, procuring a Brazilian visa to attend the program, and a $250 registration fee. Capacity is limited.
Those interested in applying should fax or e-mail The Consultants International Group and include a curriculum vitae and a cover letter specifying why they wish to take part in the course. The deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 11.
Please send applications to: Larissa Presniakov, The Consultants International Group, 1616 H Street NW, Washington, DC 20006; fax 202-393-4655; e-mail info@cig-dc.com
