ICRI Offering Certifications at TISE 2014
DALLAS – The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) will offer a new certification program on slab-moisture testing at The International Surface Event (TISE) in Las Vegas next January.
ICRI, a resource for improving the quality of repair, restoration and protection of concrete and other structures, is offering a two-tier program program is to help improve the performance of concrete slab-moisture testing. The aim is for more-consistent, accurate and reliable results for making better decisions on when concrete sub-floors are ready for stone, tile or other floor coverings.
Tier 1 certification, the Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Educational Program and the accompanying ICRI Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Written Examination will focus on certifying those who are not regularly engaged in moisture testing, yet have an active interest in the process. This certification will be open to anyone, with completion gaining a Letter of Achievement from ICRI.
The Tier 2 full certification as an ICRI Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Technician – Grade 1, adds and a field-testing performance exam to the Tier 1 program. By passing both the written and field testing performance exams, certification will be issued by ICRI to those who successfully demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of each of the four field moisture tests on hardened concrete.
Those who pass both the written and field testing performance exams will receive a certificate and a wallet registration card.
The program will be offered Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.
“ICRI offers the only concrete slab moisture testing certification in the industry today,” says Kelly Page, ICRI executive director. “ICRI-certified technicians have demonstrated their ability to perform the tests necessary for assessing slab moisture and floor covering installations per ASTM standards. We’re very happy to make this certification available to the floor-covering industry.”
