Cosentino Plans Big in 2013

PLAYA del CARMEN, Mexico – New facilities and a May debut for the new Dekton® material are on tap for the Cosentino Group’s North American operations this year.

Company officials announced new plans and strategies during the annual “Cosentino 100 Conference,” attended by 250 people and held last week in this Mexican coastal resort.

250 Cosentino 100Included in 2013 will be the opening of a new logistic hub in Norfolk, Va., four new Cosentino Centers and the refurbishment of some of the older education/outreach facilities for the company.

In a keynote speech to the group, Eduardo Martínez-Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino North America, thanked attendees for their efforts in 2012 in keeping Cosentino on a path of growth, despite the difficult market conditions. He stressed the importance of having the ability to provide a fast and efficient service through the 22 U.S. based Cosentino Center logistic platforms.

The company also revealed its new mission statement and vision, including the expansion of business objectives from the areas of the kitchen and bathroom into the innovative world of architecture and design solutions.

A key component will be the May 20 premiere worldwide of Dekton, the glass-ceramic hybrid slab product that Cosentino developed during the past seven years.

“If, with Silestone®, we revolutionized the field of kitchen surfaces worldwide, with Dekton we will open new business opportunities for our customers, starting in a few months with the United States,” Martínez-Cosentino said.

The new product involved a €128 million ($165.9 million) expansion of facilities at the company’s headquarters in Cantoria, Spain, where it also manufactures Silestone quartz surfaces and processes its line of granite, marble and other natural-stone products.

Cosentino Group shows annual consolidated net sales of €428 million ($554.8 million) with a workforce of more than 2,300 employees worldwide. The North American market remains a priority for the company, where it records more than half of its sales and employs 700.

“We are still in a strong position to maximize business opportunities in this region,” said Francisco Martínez-Cosentino Justo, Cosentino Group chairman. “Our partners and customers must rely on the strength of our brands, the constant innovation of our products, and our unique worldwide distribution system.

“Our commitment will continue to promote investment, and seek expansion and growth to achieve success along with our customers.”
