2016 BSI Tucker Jurors Set

225 tuckerCHESTERTOWN, N.Y. – The Building Stone Institute (BSI) selects three prominent New Orleans-based jurors for the 2016 Tucker Design Awards competition.

The judging panel will review entries in the natural-stone architectural-design honors next year.

The panel includes:

  • L. Azeo “Ace” Torre, FASLA, AIA of Torre Design Consortium
  • F. Macnaughton “Mac” Ball, FAIA of Waggoner & Ball Architects
  • Jack W. Davis, Jr. editor/publisher Tribune Publishing (retired); advisor/trustee to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The call for entries in the 2016 competition will be announced in late October of this year.

First presented in 1977, the Tucker Design Awards building, landscape and design communities, recognizes work exhibiting excellence and innovation in concept, design, construction and use of natural stone.

“Tucker Design Award winning projects also typically exhibit exceptional collaboration of the design teams with stone suppliers and installers, which is something our industry advocates and BSI celebrates,” said BSI Executive Vice President Jane Bennett.

On Oct. 20, 2016, the jurors will present the awards during a ceremony held at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.

“Having the jurors at the event to personally present this award to their peers, listening to comments supporting their selections, and viewing inspiring images of those projects is memorable to our winners,” Bennett added.

In conjunction with the Tucker Design Awards event, BSI will also recognize the 2016 Bybee Prize winner for continued use of natural stone in architectural design. Given in honor of the late James Daniel Bybee of Bybee Stone Co., a respected BSI past president, the laurel is awarded to an individual architect or landscape architect for a body of work executed over time and distinguished by outstanding design and use of natural stone.
