2012 Tucker Awards Announced; May 11 Ceremony
CHESTERTOWN, N.Y. – A dozen honorees of the 2012 Tucker Design Awards will be presented on May 11 in St. Louis by the Building Stone Institute (BSI).
In a ceremony at the Missouri Botanical Garden, the group will also present its career-landmark Bybee Prize to Robert Frasca, FAIA, of Zimmer Gunsel Frasca Architects of Portland, Ore.
First presented in 1977, the biennial Tucker Design Award is recognized as one of the most-prestigious architectural-design awards in both the building and landscape industries. The Tucker Design Award honors those whose work exhibits excellence in concept, design, construction and use of natural stone.
Jurors for this year’s awards are Ripley Rasmus, senior vice president and director of design at HOK St. Louis; Rae Price, FASLA, Peridian International, Newport Beach, Calif.; and Peter MacKeith, associate dean, Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
The Bybee Prize, named in honor of the late James Daniel Bybee, a respected and long-standing member of the Building Stone Institute, is awarded to an individual architect or landscape architect for a body of work executed over time and distinguished by outstanding design and use of natural stone.
The 2012 awards program will be presented at on May 11 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a celebratory luncheon. The BSI will also host an architectural tour of St. Louis ,available to attendees, on May 10.
